Magnettes & Steam

Our traditional season-opener is as usual on Easter Saturday, this time at Tenterden Town station (TN30 6HE) on the Kent and East Sussex Railway (kesr.org.uk) There's no specific timetable for the event, but you're encouraged to arrive early if possible (from 9am), as we will be using the same entrance as pedestrians, so arrivals after 10am will need to be marshalled through. The station cafe opens at 10am, and the first train departs at 10.40

K&ESR winds through the Kent countryside for more than 11 miles from picturesque Tenterden town to Bodiam, where it’s just a short walk to the castle owned by the National Trust. It looks to be a great venue, and as usual you can just turn up on the day, although it would be very helpful to know if you're coming so we have an idea of numbers. Please contact Stephen Tickell (tel. 01737 760330 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

There's a small discount available for train tickets booked in advance via this link (which will be available until shortly before the event), which also entitles you to a free hot drink in the station cafe. Sorry no discount for tickets bought on the day

For those requiring B&B, we suggest Collina House, close to the town centre, and Little Silver hotel (slightly further away). If you are making a weekend of your visit, you might be interested in the special Real Ale excursion train on Saturday evening - it's recommended you book this as early as possible

Peter Martin asks that orders for spare parts for collection at Magnettes & Steam be sent to him in advance. Although he's located close to the K&ESR it will be difficult to fetch spares during the day as he'll be busy at the station.

Stowe House and Gardens

A visit to the magnificent house and gardens, organized by John and Cynthia Harris. Please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. John or phone 01604 642662 for more information, and so we'll have an approximate idea of numbers in advance. Meet at Stowe House 10am

Silverstone weekend - MG Live

Once more it is time for the annual bonanza of motor racing, chatting to friends and making new ones, and touring all the stands. Once again the main marquee stands will have a theme chosen by the exhibitor. Last year it was won by the T-register with a magnificent depiction of a picnic Tea Party with painted backdrop and superb display. Our own showed the versatility of the Magnette – any ideas for this year please shout them to the Committee.

Venue is, as usual Silverstone circuit. More details will appear in Safety Fast and on mgcc.co.uk/mglive
